A VPN will include specialized encryption features and capabilities that could potentially have regional implications when used in certain countries. It is always best to familiarize yourself with a country's laws and regulations in regards to VPN usage prior to visiting.
There are also restrictions imposed regarding the distribution and usage of VPN software in certain countries. This is because Intego Privacy Protection was developed within the United States.
Intego Privacy Protection cannot be 'exported' to the following countries on the U.S. Export Administration's list of restricted items (list current as of March 15, 2021):
- Cuba
- Iran
- Myanmar
- North Korea
- Sudan
- Syria
In addition, in order to protect democracy, Intego Privacy Protection services or software are prohibited for use by certain people or organizations in the following countries (list as of March 15, 2021):
- Belarus
- Democratic Republic of the Congo
- Former Yugoslavia
- Iraq
- Lebanon
- Libya
- Russia
- Somalia
- South Sudan
- Yemen
Please note that the list above may not always accurately reflect the current software functionality, as it is updated from time to time due to changes in world conditions, laws, regulations, etc. The term "exporting," as mentioned above, does not only mean selling the software to the relevant countries, but also bringing in a computer with the software installed, even if it is strictly for personal use.
In addition to the above list, there are currently no Korean servers listed. Intego used to have a VPN server in Korea, but due to a change in Korean governmental policy, the server was removed from this location in order to protect the privacy of our users.
