There are two ways that you can take a screenshot on your Mac.
You can take a screenshot of the entire screen at once, or, just a particular section of the screen.
How to Take a Screenshot of the Entire Screen
- To take a screenshot, press and hold these three keys together: Shift, Command, and 3.
- You will see a thumbnail of the screenshot appear in the lower right corner of your screen. You can click on this thumbnail to edit the screenshot, or allow it to disappear and it will save to your Desktop.
How to Take a Screenshot of a Portion of the Screen
- Press and hold these three keys together: Shift, Command, and 4.
- Drag the crosshair cursor to select the area of the screen you want to include in the screen capture. To move the selection, press and hold Space bar while dragging. To cancel taking the screenshot, press the Escape (Esc) key.
- To take the screenshot, release your mouse or trackpad button.
- You will see a thumbnail of the screenshot appear in the lower right corner of your screen. You can click on this thumbnail to edit the screenshot, or allow it to disappear and it will save to your Desktop.
