No, the upgrade is free and optional if you have a current subscription.

If you have a valid subscription for VirusBarrier X6, Internet Security 2013 or X8, you can upgrade to Internet Security X9 free of charge.

If you have a valid subscription for Internet Security Barrier X6, Mac Premium Bundle 2013 or X8, you can upgrade to the Mac Premium Bundle X9.

Note: Identity Scrubber is not included with the free upgrade to Mac Premium Bundle X9 and is no longer sold by Intego.
