Changes to macOS have rendered older Intego software incompatible. As such, they cannot be updated or supported for future macOS or iOS releases. This means that updates for virus definitions and filters will no longer be released. The following applications have been discontinued:
VirusBarrier Plus: Updates to Mac OS X Mavericks and higher have rendered VirusBarrier Plus incompatible, and it will not be updated or supported for future software releases. We recommend using VirusBarrier Scanner to replace this App.
VirusBarrier Express: Updates to Mac OS X Mavericks and higher have rendered VirusBarrier Express incompatible, and it will not be updated or supported for future software releases. We recommend using
VirusBarrier Scanner to replace this App.
VirusBarrier X5: Recent security changes have led us to discontinue the updates to VirusBarrier X5 filters. Older versions of Mac OS X no longer receive security updates from Apple and are not considered safe. We recommend upgrading to Mac OS X 10.8 or higher to use our latest Intego X9 Security Software.
VirusBarrier iOS: Apple has elected to eliminate the category of antivirus and anti-malware products from their iOS App Store. You may read about it in the article Where Did VirusBarrier iOS Go?
Newer Intego Products to Replace Older Versions
VirusBarrier X9 is available in all of our software packages including Mac Premium Bundle X9 and Internet Security X9 software bundles. Definitions are frequently released for this version.
VirusBarrier Scanner is Intego's latest free antivirus and malware removal tool for Mac. Definitions are frequently released for this version.
