By default, your Intego software should not have any impact on your internet or network connection. However, it is possible that a network component required for maintaining your network connection may become disabled or denied access if you have modified the settings.
There are also settings or preferences enabled in macOS that work along side your Intego software which can block these connections in certain scenarios.
You can use the steps below to troubleshoot any network connection issues. Please check the following Intego applications you may have installed with your software package:

Check for Blocked Connections Within NetBarrier
Within the main menu of NetBarrier, select the Applications tab in the upper left corner.
Once inside the Applications menu, look at the list on the right side and locate the application that you would like to unblock, then click on the Edit button at the bottom of the window.
Next, you will want to click where you see Block Connections. The menu will expand so that you can select your preferred connection rule (Block, Allow or Ask).
In Edit mode you can configure an application as “Allow Connections”, “Block Connections”, or “Ask”. "Allow Connections" will approve connections, and "Block Connections" will prevent them. When an application is configured as “Ask”, the first time the application attempts to use the network after you log-in, you will be asked whether you wish to allow that process to run or not.
After changing the connection rules, click Done to save these changes.
Temporarily Disable NetBarrier
Temporarily turning off NetBarrier can also help determine if NetBarrier is responsible for disrupting the network connection.
Due to the changes Apple has made to the various versions of macOS, there are multiple methods you can use to turn off NetBarrier.
Visit the article below to find the steps for your specific version of macOS.
How to Turn Off Netbarrier Protection
Reset NetBarrier
If you continue to have problems, or if turning off the protection fixes the issue, you can reset NetBarrier.
To reset NetBarrier, launch the Application, click NetBarrier in the upper left corner of the screen next to the Apple logo and select 'Reset NetBarrier'.
You will be presented with a dialog box which will ask if you are sure you would like to you reset NetBarrier. Select Reset to proceed.

This process will reset all of your previous settings.
Check ContentBarrier for Blocked Applications and Websites
If you purchased Intego's Mac Premium Bundle, you may have enabled certain content monitoring features within ContentBarrier. This parental control software may be filtering the network from connecting to certain websites or the internet.
You may have ContentBarrier configured to block certain sites, or have the Block Websites settings configured improperly.
To make sure ContentBarrier is not set to block websites, verify that the Blocked Websites option under the Configuration tab is set to 'Allow acces to all websites.'
You may also have ContentBarrier figured to block encrypted webpages. An encrypted webpage is any URL (web address) that includes https:// at the beginning of the URL. For example. https://www.intego.com is an encrypted webpage. If you require ContentBarrier's settings to remain enabled for the user account, uncheck the box for Block Encrypted Sites, to see if this allows webpages to load once again.
Temporarily Disable ContentBarrier
Open ContentBarrier and ensure Enable Protection is not checked and enabled under the Configuration tab of the current user.
Reset ContentBarrier
Additionally, you can reset all profiles to remove any possible preferences that could block your connection.
Open the ContentBarrier application. Select ContentBarrier next to the logo. Click Setup Assistant... from the drop-down menu. If necessary, you may drag your user profile to a lower protection level. Choose Done to end the profiles reset and process the changes.
Check VPN Protocol and Server Settings
A protocol is what is used to create a secured pathway between your computer and the VPN server. Protocols are used to insure that the connection remains secure and stable while you use the VPN.
The primary responsibilities of the VPN protocol are authentication and encryption. Authentication is what verifies that your Mac or PC is communicating with a trusted and secure VPN server, and encryption is what makes your connection unreadable to outside sources. Intego Privacy Protection VPN offers two different protocol options, OpenVPN and WireGuard. Each have their own benefits, depending on your usage and connection preferences. Changing from one protocol to the other may provide a better network configuration.
You can change the protocol type by opening your VPN Settings menu, clicking on the option for Protocols in the left side menu and toggling the switch to your preferred protocol type.
You can also change the server location. By changing the VPN server to another location which is closer to your current geographical region, you may be able to improve speeds or connection strength. Additionally, some servers may be more popular than others. If a server is congested it can have an impact on the speed. Selecting a server in another region which may not be as congested can make your connection faster.
To change your server location, click on the VPN Server section on the main window and select a new server location from the list shown.
Temporarily Disable Intego Privacy Protection VPN
Another Intego application that can impact the strength of your network connection is Intego Privacy Protection, our VPN. Temporarily disconnecting from the VPN will allow you to determine if the VPN is responsible for the network issues.
When the VPN is enabled and connected, the window will show a green band at the top that says Connected.
To disable and disconnect the VPN, click the circular power button at the top of the window. The status will change, and the green band will disappear, letting you know it has completely disconnected. Once the VPN has successfully disconnected, wait a moment and test the network connection again.
Reset Intego Privacy Protection VPN
If you are not sure which settings you have changed within the VPN, you can restore the settings back to the default options.
Within the Settings menu, click on General in the left side menu, then at the bottom of the window, click the button to Reset All Settings.
Disable All Network Proxies
You may have proxy settings that are causing your loss of network connection.
Click the logo on the top right corner of the menu bar. Then select the System Settings option. Select the Network option in the left side menu.
Press the Details button at the top right of the Network preference window, to the right of the network you are connected to.
Select the Proxies tab. Verify all of the buttons are set to the off position. Press the OK button to save all the changes.
Once you disable all the proxy settings for each active network interface, you can open the application and test your network connection.
Disable Intego System Extensions
To insure that all factors impacting the network have been disabled, you will also want to try disabling the system extensions for the Intego software.
Within the System Settings on your Mac, navigate to the Network section in the left side menu and select the option for Filters.
Within the Filters section, click on the drop down menu that says Enabled and change the status to Disabled for all Intego items in the list.
